Speaking at his first news conference since winning the election, Prime Minister Mark Carney confirmed that King Charles will personally deliver the upcoming throne speech on May 27.
Meanwhile, a newly elected Conservative MP from Alberta has offered to resign so that party leader Pierre Poilievre, who doesn’t currently hold a seat in Parliament, can run in a byelection.
Poilievre stated he accepted the offer with ‘humility.’
Prime Minister Mark Carney says he will ensure a by-election happens ‘as soon as possible’ if Conservatives ask.
The by-election, should it come, would allow Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre to run for a seat in the House of Commons after losing his Ottawa-area riding.
